Dear Neighbor,
Meeting Needs Through the Budget
This week the Senate Finance Committee will begin hearing the Capital Budget. Communities from all over the state submitted 1400 projects totaling $3.4 billion. Aside from funding the Governor’s Budget the legislature will have to decide what projects make it into the Capital Budget. It is important for legislators to hear directly from constituents in order to understand their interests and needs. Alaskans need the legislature to recognize the needs of regular people and produce a budget that helps all Alaskans.
They are scheduled to accept public testimony at the end of the week. Your input will make a difference in the final decisions made by the legislature. I hope to hear many of your voices on this important budget.

Coming Home One Final Time
I will be in Fairbanks to host my one final constituent meeting on this Saturday, March 20th. Please come out and join me as we discuss the final days of session. The Legislature will be finishing up the Operating Budget and moving on to the Capital Budget in the following weeks. Along with the budget, we must tackle the attempts to change the current oil tax taking to give away Alaska’s fair share to the oil industry. It’s an important time in our state and I hope to have you there to help guide our state decisions.
